Post GDC: Going Social… Going Alpha…

April 6th, 2010

Things are hectic here- I like how this feels…

GDC was a blast! Had some promising business meetings and talks and did the yearly interview with Torque Powered, in whose booth I demoed the latest version of Epic Frontiers. Kudos to Eric Preisz for the new GDC booth set up and putting in the “Community Pit” with such a comfy couch (honestly, because when you’re on your feet and talking all day and night at a convention like GDC, such things are just awesome). And kudos to Michael Perry for whipping up a series of interviews with myself and other Indie developers in the midst of so much convention center chaos :)

Another development coming out of GDC will be that we’re nearing in on a closed Alpha for Epic Frontiers, to be opened to members of the Torque Powered community. Having your game QA’ed early on by fellow Indies is a great idea, and we’re hoping to stomp a lot of bugs with both operation and gameplay in order to bring a better gameplay experience to our customers.  We’re aiming at an April (yes, sometime this month) opening of this.

On the web front, we realize that the website for Epic Frontiers could be a bit more spiffy, so we’re currently having the website redesigned- and not by me… We’ve pretty much settled on a clean, basic design that should be easy to navigate, and easy to update as well, so as we get more content, we can post it right up instead of going through more archaic web-update processes that we’ve been stuck with. This Dev Blog will remain, and we’re going to be adding some social features to the site as well, which brings me to my next point…

The Epic Frontiers Facebook page is now up and running! We’ve got our Dev Blog updating there, as well as photos and videos (coming soon!), so you can keep track of Epic Frontiers from your Facebook page anywhere in the world. And if you’ve got a mobile phone, you can now follow our updates to that page on Twitter as well!

Those are all the updates for today, but we’ll be back with more exciting news soon!
